WWE Smackdown Live (15/08/2017): Review

Image
Smackdown Live couldn't build up to the hype created by Raw, but in its own defense, it did take away a lot of buzz-worthy storylines that could've developed after. A failed cash-in and Shane's involvement in the US Title picture headlined the show. Let's have a look. Credits: WWE.com Results: Natalya defeated Becky Lynch. Rusev vs. Chad Gable ended in a double count-out. The Usos defeated The New Day. Jinder Mahal vs. John Cena ended in a no contest. Mahal's Independence Speech Jinder Mahal kicked off the show along with the Singh Brother by inviting a live band performance of the Indian National Anthem. Mahal then took to address the audience by stating that he would beat John Cena in a more dominating fashion than Nakamura did and started his usual ranting in Punjabi. Nakamura interrupted him and claimed that he would take the title from him at Summerslam. This was a sub-par segment. Hopefully, WWE are done experimenting with Jinder Ma...

With Five days to go for the Smackdown Live-exclusive Pay-Per-View Battleground, WWE is gearing up for a monumental task of maintaining its viewership for the underwhelming event. With a lackluster main-event and packed up midcard and undercard matches that have the potential to steal the show, let's take a look into how WWE plans to put in the finishing touches at the go-home show for Battleground. Credits: WWE.com Results: Jimmy Uso defeats Kofi Kingston Mike Kanellis defeats Sami Zayn Becky Lynch defeats Charlotte Flair Baron Corbin and Kevin Owens defeat AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura Return of The Punjabi Prison: With the aggressive entry that WWE is trying to approach into India, The Punjabi Prison opened the show. Cameras moving here and there, catching every glimpse of the bamboo-prison, does little to accentuate the threat it poses. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal enters, flanked by the Singh Brothers to address the WWE Universe. The Modern Day Maharaja ...
